EM Simulation Prior to Cadence AWR DE Version 10, it was very time consuming to prepare a circuit, like the hairpin filter in figure 7.83, for an EM simulation. In version 10, circuit extraction was introduced. That allows the simple conversion of the circuit to an EM model for EM simulation to be carried out. The EM simulation speed improved significantly in version 13, making it now practical to use EM simulations as part of the design process. The hairpin filter of figure 7.83, was designed and optimised using circuit simulation only.
