The stopband attenuation can be optimised by mounting the filter in a conductive (aluminium) enclosure and applying microwave- absorbing material in the appropriate places, to be determined experimentally. In many cases, applying the absorber to the back ground-plane of the filter improves the stopband performance sufficiently. Both EM simulations give a good agreement between the measured and simulated results at 2 GHz, but the circuit simulations give a poor agreement there. Figure 7.51.
